My Valentine

Yes, I know that it is early for this post but what is a girl to do at 4 in the morning when she can't sleep and she is missing her Valentine.  Doug should get a good chuckle out of this since we are not a romantic Valentine's Day couple.  We celebrated our first Valentine's with a romantic date and since then we have been homebodies, deciding to make it more of a family time than a couples holiday.  But as I looked over some of our family pictures I found ones that featured parts of Doug's personality that I loved the best.  So bear with me for a moment while I expound.

This is Doug's "I'm smiling because you're making me to" face.  He makes this face whenever I tell him "You love me, you couldn't live without me, you wouldn't even want to try!"

I must have said something to make him chuckle here since that is the smile I get when he is amused with me.

This is his typical picture smile but I love that I got to lean back into him while he wrapped his arms around me.

This picture has a special place in my heart. This is the face I most commonly see.  As you can tell I am talking and Doug is ever so attentive.  I can just see the thoughts running through his head.  "I wonder when this will be done?  Will I have enough time to do thus and so with my bikes after this?  Maybe if Kristen stopped talking we would get this over faster."

Our half smiles always speak of contentment to me and a soft comfort with each other.

Again a pretty forced smile on his part but as you can tell I'm happy to be where I am.

As far as the very first picture, that is Doug's "I'm pretty happy with myself" smile.  I usually see this one when he has done something that he thinks is particularly witty but with which I disagree (but still makes me laugh).

And although to most people this wouldn't be a love note, for us it is.
